Ian Ure clears the lines
March 14th 1962 saw Dundee draw 0-0 at home to Glasgow Rangers. The picture above shiows a tense moment during the match which was played in front of 35,000 supporters with Ian Ure clearing a header from Rangers Doug Baillie..

Gilzean Scores the winner at Tannadice

April 9th 1962 is a date that will stick in the memories of older Dundee supporters because it is the date Dundee defeated Dundee United on there home patch in front of a crowd of 20,000 (what's new there). The picture shows the joyous scenes after Alan Gilzean had scored his second of the game to send United to a 2-1 defeat and take Dundee back to the top of the league alongside Rangers.


Alan Cousin opens the scoring against St. Mirren

The date was April 25th 1962 when Dundee met St. Mirren at home and went on to win 2-0 and go two points clear at the top of the league. The picture shows Alan Cousin's shot beating St. Mirren keeper Bobby Williamson for the opening goal, Andy Penman later made it 2-0 and the Dees were one game away from the title, the crowd that day was 20,000.




Gilzean scores versus St. Johnstone
April 28th 1962, The final day of the season and dee day for Dundee. Dundee needed only to defeat St. Johnstone to win the title and relegate St. Johnstone in the process. What happened that day is history now but it still makes you proud if you were a Dundee Supporter. The picture above shows Ace marksman Alan Gilzean burst through the St. Johnstone defence and crash the ball past keeper Bill Taylor for Dundee's second at Muirton, Andy Penman added a third while Gilzean had already scored the first as well and Dundee became the League Champions.
