Dundee keeper Pat Linney is beaten
The photo above shows the Dundee goalkeeper, Pat Linney, for once being beaten by Motherwell's Willie Hunter The game was played on 14th October 1961 but Dundee recovered to win 4-2. Looking on are Bobby Roberts, Pat Quinn and Willie Hunter (all Motherwell and Dundee's Alex Hamilton, Bobby Seith, Ian Ure and Bobby Wishart. The goal scorers for Dundee that day were, Penman (penalty); Cousin, Smith and Gilzean.

Gilzean Almost Scores versus Celtic

On November 4th Dundee played Glasgow Celtic at Dens Park, a game which they won 2-1. The picture above shows Alan Gilzean beating the Celtic keeper, Frank Haffey, only to have the ball cleared off the line from Duncan McKay with Pat Crerand and Jim Kennedy watching on anxiously. Gilzean was to head the winner later in the game with Bobby Wishart the other goal grabber. The attendance was 24,500.


Gilzean Scores versus Rangers

The picture above was taken on November 11th 1961. Just one week after the home game against Celtic Dundee went to Ibrox Park in Glasgow and thrashed Glasgow Rangers 5-1 in front of a crowd of 38,000, Gilzean scored 4 times in the game with Pemnman bagging the other. The picture shows Rangers keeper Billy Ritchie sprawled at Andy Penman's feet after Alan Gilzean had netted Dundee's fourth.




Bobby Wishart scores with a Free Kick
On December 23rd 1961 Dundee went to Love Street to face a poor St. Mirren side. Dundee had to rely on Bobby Wishart to score from a free kick to earn a draw. Here Bobby is seen scoring that vital goal for Dundee.




 


Alan Cousin scores at Tynecastle
Into a New Year and on January 13th 1962 The Dees went to Tynecastle to face Hearts. Before a crowd of 25,000 supporters Dundee did not dissapoint eventually running out 2-0 victors. Above is Alan Cousin outjumping Bobby Kirk of Hearts to score Dundee's opener the other being scored by Alan Gilzean.




Killie almost Score
The 3rd of February 1962 saw Dundee face a tough Kilmarnock side away. Dundee had to fight hard to get anything from the game but eventually managed a 1-1 draw.

The photo above shows Pat Linney and Ian Ure watching anxiously as an Andy Kerr of Kilmarnock header skims the bar. The goal grabber for Dundee that day wasAlan Cousin and the crowd at the game was 14,000.
